ABC executives are scrambling to find a pro-Trump panelist for The View. “For a show about different perspectives, ‘The View’ doesn’t seem to have any when it comes to Trump. ABC bosses don’t want to alienate the pro-Trump demographic,” said an unnamed source.
Broadcast television has been losing viewers to digital platforms at the "speed and momentum of a biblical flash flood," writes Tyler Johnson for the TV Fanatic.
This isn't a new problem. Back when Netflix launched in 1997 as a snail-mail DVD rental business industry experts scoffed. That is until Netflix evolved into the leading pioneer of streaming entertainment.
In 2022, Disney CEO Bob Iger recently warned that “linear TV and satellite is marching towards a great precipice, and it will be pushed off … I can’t tell you when, but it goes away.”
But it's hard to steer a ship when its steaming at full speed, powered by ad revenue. It's all playing out like a parody of Star Trek. Scotty calls Captain Kirk from the engine room, "Captain, I'm givin er' all she's got, but there's no Advertisers left." Even the decades long Star Trek franchise had to decommission the USS Enterprise into a museum. Following the same plot line, broadcast television is becoming a relic of the past.
The demise of traditional television will likely be an assimilation into The Borg of streaming services. Major media conglomerates are announcing their intent to be "digital first" where their products and services will emphasize optimizing content for digital delivery over traditional broadcast television.
ABC's latest move reflects in part the shift to digital first, but there's no doubt a second Trump administration has triggered a come to America moment for The View. As we watch all this play out, it's still humorous to see President-elect Trump gather the largest and most diverse voter base in history while the cantankerous ladies of The View are about to be unwittingly transformed by MAGA.

(New York Post) ABC News brass are in “panic mode” as they hunt for conservative voices to balance the rabid anti-Trump rhetoric spewed by the hosts on “The View,” as well as those on other shows, The Post has learned.
The Disney-owned network — which came under fire over how ABC News moderators grilled Donald Trump during the presidential debate against Vice President Kamala Harris — has been holding high-level meetings since last week’s rout by the former president, sources close to the situation told The Post.
ABC News Group President Debra OConnell and her recently elevated boss of ABC News Almin Karamehmedovic held the intense sit-downs with executive producers of the network’s various shows and other senior editorial leaders, sources said.
“The View is facing pressure from higher-ups,” the source said. “Viewers can expect some major changes including bringing in new panelists that can bring in a pro-Trump perspective.”
