When Fact-checkers Are Propagandists

Since 2015, Politifact, a leftwing "fact check" online media organization, has awarded Donald Trump with their annual "Lie of the Year." No Democrat has been honored with this distinction since that time.

Russian collusion, the 'very fine people' hoax, Trump told people to drink bleach to cure covid, Joe Biden is mentally fit for office, Kamala Harris supports fossil fuels? Not one of these false claims were labeled as a "lie" even though the average American could judge for themselves these were all fabrications and distortions.

The award illustrates just how biased major news organization are. The whole notion of the fact-checking industry is nothing less than a manufactured propagandist tool. They claim accuracy and truth to hide their agenda. Sharyl Attkisson documents that most of these organizations were launched by and staffed with activists with common partisan ties and deep ideological roots.

It's for this reason that I launched Faith Check News. The mission is to curate relevant stories, cutting through the noise to keep Christians informed with clarity and Biblical insight. Not everything is black and white. When you start with the premise that God will hold us accountable to the truth, it's a bit easier to think right about world events, politics, and life values.

Proverbs 1:7 says, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

If you think about it, that explains why secular organizations gleefully craft propaganda to advance their agenda. They adhere to the religion of winner-take-all - a faith captured by a quote from Winston Churchill, "History is written by the victors."

What now?

As 2024 comes to an end, thank the One and Only, the one sent by the Father in glory and truth. For in Him was life, and that life is the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

The mission of Faith Check News is best summed up by the apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 10:3-6

The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.
