In an interview aired Sunday, Vice President Vance criticized the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, stating they have "not been a helpful partner in implementing common-sense immigration enforcement" following their condemnation of several executive orders issued by President Trump.
Several "Christian" (I'll explain the quotation marks later) organizations criticized Trump's immigration executive orders shortly after his inauguration, arguing they conflict with core Christian values and put vulnerable populations at risk. USCCB President Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio called some provisions affecting immigrants and refugees "deeply troubling" and warned of negative consequences. The group also condemned the revised DHS policy that eliminates protections for sensitive areas, such as schools and churches, stating that non-emergency immigration enforcement in these settings goes against the common good.
The Vice President, a Catholic himself, responded by pointing out the abject hypocrisy, and worse, the perverse financial incentive behind the criticism from the "Christian" organizations.
"I think that the US Conference of Catholic Bishops needs to actually look in the mirror a little bit and recognize that when they receive over $100 million to help resettle illegal immigrants, are they worried about humanitarian concerns?" Vance questioned. "Or are they actually worried about their bottom line?"
According to the USCCB website, the United States Catholic Bishops' Migration and Refugee Services department help to resettle around 18% of the refugees that arrive in the country each year.
There is no scriptural support demanding a government accept and treat an illegal migrant as a citizen of their nation. However, the Bible is saturated with scripture denouncing the exploitation of vulnerable people, and that is exactly what these Christian organizations are doing. They are being paid millions to facilitate the largest human trafficking and sex trafficking industry the world has ever known.
As a Christian, knowingly getting paid to promote the financial and sexual abuse of children and vulnerable people to create essentially a slave class is evil.
What do you think? Is there a justification for illegal immigration?
