Socialism Celebrates $40 Trillion In Debt As Proof That It's Working

Here's a Faith Check. When you rob Peter to pay Paul and tell Jesus to take a back seat, that's not social justice. That's national hospice care.

Christians don't need to study other nations to know that socialism always fails. We can just look at our own unsustainable debt — the one that will, sooner than anyone wants to admit, force us into an existential fiscal crisis. And don't let the critics wave it off as "a complex problem," or shrug that "both sides do it." The bottom line is written in red ink. For decades, starting with FDR and the New Deal, we quietly swapped out the Church and individual enterprise and installed the State in their place.

Here's what that swap actually costs. More than half of everything the federal government spends now goes right back out as checks to individuals — Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare subsidies, SNAP, and a whole stack of transfer programs. Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid alone are 47% of the entire budget. And the CBO — not a think tank, the government's own scorekeeper — says it's those programs, plus the interest on the debt they've piled up, that are driving us off the cliff.

Not defense. The promises.

Every one of them sold as compassion, every one of them unfunded, every one of them making the problem it was supposed to fix bigger and more expensive than it was to begin with.

And we know what the Bible says about debt: "The borrower is slave to the lender." So sadly, Obama was right — we really are all in this together.

Because here's the real kicker: Jesus told you to feed the poor. He didn't say "vote for a guy to do it with your neighbor's paycheck and keep 30% for the paperwork." Charity is love with your own skin in the game. Socialism is love outsourced to the IRS — all the moral credit, none of the wallet.

So as the midterms approach and you hear the cacophony of promises of free stuff, don't check the applause — check the national debt clock. We already ran the experiment. Vote for biblical stewardship, not serfdom dressed up as compassion.
