One Nation with Two Competing Visions in a Hotly Contested Election

FAITH CHECK STAFF: Thank God for the electoral college system. Because of the distribution of electors ultimate power is decentralized from what would otherwise be a popularity contest. And that contest would be dominated by skyscraper laden cement metropolises with their dense populations. Their interest is unnaturally different than suburban and rural America. A city dweller is extremely dependent on government services for their everyday life. A rural and Surburban dweller often has more independence or is actively involved in providing those services. Mix in faith and state level resources - compare Montana to New York City - and you can see the diverse priorities across the nation.

For this reason, we should marvel that both candidates for President are forced to heavily campaign in states they would never visit if we had a national popular vote. Common ground among a diverse and sometimes fierce people is not easy to find. Our Founding Fathers knew that, and we benefit from their wisdom.

(The Center Square) – With just six days until Election Day, both former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris made appearances in North Carolina on Wednesday.

They were 60 miles apart and started their speeches within an hour of each other.

Harris was in Raleigh, Trump down U.S. 64 in Rocky Mount. Two very different visions for the future of the country were on display, each pointing fingers at the other for failures and inability.
