Nearly three years after President Biden suggested to Putin that a minor incursion into Ukraine might be acceptable, his administration has pledged additional U.S. tax dollars to support the war in Ukraine.
“Let me be clear: the Ukrainian people deserve to live in peace and safety, and the United States and the international community must continue to stand with Ukraine until it triumphs over Russia’s aggression,” declared Biden following a Russian attack on Ukraine on Christmas Day.
Critics argue that Biden's weak warnings to Putin in 2021 emboldened Russia to launch its full-scale invasion. Even supporters of U.S. aid to Ukraine have criticized the President for micromanaging the conflict and delaying the delivery of more advanced weapons. This raises pressing questions: Has Biden’s leadership emboldened Putin? Or, is the President compromised by alleged backdoor deals between his family and Russian oligarchs, making him a pawn of the Kremlin?
What is undeniable is that the U.S. military-industrial complex is profiting immensely, while hundreds of thousands of soldiers and civilians continue to lose their lives.
Let us pray for renewed leadership to push Russia toward serious negotiations to end the war. Notably, Putin has reportedly requested an urgent meeting with President-elect Trump to discuss a resolution to the conflict.
