Why do some Christians believe they do not have a biblical duty to vote?

The same Christians who say we don't have an obligation to vote say we have an obligation to support the poor.
The same Christians who say we should care for the widow and orphans say we shouldn't be concerned with which politician gets elected.

The same Christians who apply a Jesus-like perfection litmus test to Trump live mostly the same lifestyle as those who don't believe in Christ.

The same Christians who prayed that God would strike down Roe v Wade, refuse to vote for the President who single-handedly put the conservative majority on the Supreme Court who answered those prayers.

Jesus said, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” Guess what people? Your vote belongs to you. If you belong to God, your vote belongs to God.

Again, Jesus tells us that we are to be salt and light to the word. To preserve and influence our nation for God's purposes. As an American citizen, you have the power of a king or queen. Your vote is salt and light in a dark world. James challenges us that faith without works is dead. Voting for policies and the politicians who will advance those policies is faith in action.

As pastor Gary Hamrick says, "A good government cannot save you. But a bad government can destroy us."

Government is not the answer to the soul of the nation. Jesus is. As a follower of Jesus your vote is one way that you can bring the goodness and truth of Jesus to the soul of a nation.
